Overview
A heavy commercial vehicle (over 7.5 tonnes) parked with any part of the vehicle on a pavement, grass verge, or central reservation.
From the warden's perspective
Warden's note
This applies specifically to HGVs over 7.5 tonnes. The exemption for loading is stricter than for ordinary vehicles — it must be necessary to leave the carriageway and the vehicle must not be unattended. Regular code 62 applies to lighter vehicles.
Common mistakes
Grounds councils sometimes get wrong — worth checking against your PCN and evidence pack.
- Vehicle under 7.5 tonnes (use code 62 instead)
- Necessary loading exemption applies
- Private land
Your rights
Check vehicle weight. If under 7.5 tonnes, code 61 is the wrong code — challenge on that basis.
