Overview
Your vehicle stopped or parked on a designated taxi rank.
From the warden's perspective
Warden's note
Taxi ranks are no-stopping zones for all vehicles except licensed taxis. Even briefly stopping to drop someone off is not permitted. These are often camera enforced. Check whether a rank is operational 24/7 or has restricted hours — signs must clearly show the hours.
Common mistakes
Grounds councils sometimes get wrong — worth checking against your PCN and evidence pack.
- Rank not clearly signed or marked
- Hours of operation not displayed
- Brief drop-off assumed to be permitted
- Rank temporarily suspended but suspension not signed
Your rights
Check the signs. If hours aren't displayed or markings are faded, challenge. If the rank was suspended, challenge.
